5 Reasons Why You Should Bring Kids on Your Honeymoon

Should you take your kids on your honeymoon? Our personal opinion is – yes! Traveling together is ideal for bonding and creating all these valuable memories together. We believe that it's essential for younger kids and will help them feel included in the family activities. If your kids are in older teens, it's important to ask how they feel about a familymoon. If they want to stay at home, you should consider this – dragging around bored and whiny teenagers is definitely not fun.

But if they do want to go, why not? You can have some alone time with your partner and then do some wholesome things with your children. Besides, you have a great variety of destinations to choose from – consider having a familymoon in Jamaica, Thailand or you name it! Consider St. George Island if you want to stay within the States.

1.   It's great for bonding and experiencing something new as a family

You can actually become closer to your kids rather than literally creating distance between you. Also, imagine how exciting it's going to be for them!

Familymoon is perfect for step-families, and you can live, eat, sleep and experience all the exciting things together. We all know how difficult it is for kids to welcome somebody new in the family. They might feel the need to compete with other kids for your attention, feel left alone or insignificant, or simply dislike your new partner and their step-siblings.

If you or your partner or even both of you already have kids, it's crucial to make sure they get along with each other. This will help them feel like they are on the same team, and nobody's taking their parent away from them.

2. You don't have to find a babysitter back home

Consider yourself lucky if you have family or reliable neighbors nearby to help. Imagine if you don't really have anyone to leave your child with – that's a massive concern. So, you have to start preparing in advance in search of a perfect nanny to take care of them while you are gone. But again, you are going to have to leave your kids for days! You're supposed to relax on your honeymoon, but you might be just be worried all the time. Besides that, you are going to spend some $20 per hour for childcare back home.

3. You can go on a more extended vacation

For us personally, the family honeymoon is much more important than the wedding itself.

You might think that with small kids staying behind, your honeymoon probably has to last a week maximum, if not less. What if you go traveling with your kids for like a month? You have every opportunity to stay away longer if you bring your children!

Also, you probably wouldn't trust somebody with your kids for more than a week, unless it's your own parents.

4. You can always get some alone time by hiring a nanny

You can find a helper at any destination you choose to travel to – Mexico, Jamaica, Thailand; you name it. People there are generally very hardworking, and you can choose a perfect nanny based on reviews. And guess what, they change much less than nannies back home.

5. Enjoy spending time with your kids before they grow up

Finally, enjoy it while it lasts! Seriously, the idea is that you are going to spend the rest of your life with your spouse, but what about the kids? Sure enough, they will grow up, and you would wish you spent more time with them while they were young.

As they get older, they would want to go on vacations with their friends and maybe even relocate to another city or country. Yes, you would definitely have less privacy, but it's all worth it on the larger scale of things.
